Η ταινία ακολουθεί τέσσερις 40άρηδες φίλους, οι οποίοι συναντιούνται κάθε χρόνο από το πανεπιστήμιο. Ο Ρίτσαρντ, ο Ρον, ο Τζόναθαν και ο Τιμ περνάνε μαζί μια εβδομάδα σε ένα παραθαλάσσιο σπίτι στην Καλιφόρνια, γιορτάζοντας την φιλία τους και ανταλλάσσοντας νέα. Όταν έρχεται στην επιφάνεια μια παλιά υπόσχεση η συνάντηση τους μετατρέπεται σε θρίλερ καθώς η αυτοκαταστροφή τους κυριεύει.
